On the initiative of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy parliamentary discussions on the progress of implementation of the national program for education of the rising generation designed for 2013-2017 took place in Dushanbe today.

“The meeting participants, in particular, noted that failure to cover a certain group of teenagers leads to increase in the number of infringements committed by such juveniles,” Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Over the first nine months of this year, the Tajik law enforcement authorities have detected 517 crimes committed by minors and 4.400 crimes committed by youth,” Sultonov said, noting that 20 crimes have been committed by underage girls.

Over the report period, administrative action has been imposed on 1,745 parents and they have been fined a total of some 160,000 somoni, the spokesman added.
